A Family-Run Autism-Friendly Retreat in Spain
Our Story
We are an English family of four living in the beautiful Catalan countryside. Our youngest daughter is on the autistic spectrum, and our eldest daughter lives nearby in Olot, where she studies Sculpture and 3D Design.
Our journey in Spain began in the summer of 2002 when we moved to an old farmhouse called Can Costa, located in the peaceful surroundings outside Caldes de Malavella.
Why We Created an Autism-Friendly Retreat
In 2014, after experiencing a particularly stressful holiday in France, we realised how hard it is for families like ours to find calm, inclusive places to stay. Because of that experience, we opened our home to families living with autism.
Over the next five years, we welcomed many wonderful guests to Can Costa. Unfortunately, like so many others, we had to close in late 2019 due to the global pandemic.
A New Chapter: Mas Feliu
In the summer of 2022, we began a fresh chapter. After selling Can Costa, we purchased Mas Feliu, a traditional Catalan farmhouse, and spent the next two years renovating it.
Today, we live in a converted barn attached to the main house. We’ve created two peaceful, self-contained holiday lets that are designed with sensory needs, comfort, and inclusivity in mind. In summer 2024, we proudly re-opened and are excited to welcome families once again.
